Neurological exercise physiology · Kogarah NSW

We treat the condition, not just the symptoms.

Accredited exercise physiologists for stroke, MS, Parkinson’s, dementia and disability — in the clinic, in our 250 sqm accessible gym, or at home. Kogarah since 2014.

A bright, open exercise studio: pale timber reformer equipment on a light floor, with daylight through full-height curtains.

The facility

AbilityEx — a gym designed around access, not around athletes.

Most gyms are built for people who already move well. AbilityEx was built for the people we see: someone six months after a stroke, someone managing fatigue with MS, someone whose balance has changed with Parkinson’s.

It sits on the same site as the clinic, so an assessment and the first session can happen in the one visit. The floor is open, the equipment is rehabilitation-first, and every session runs one-to-one with an accredited exercise physiologist.

If travel is the barrier, we come to you. Home visits run across the St George area and use whatever space and support you already have at home.

What we treat

The conditions we work with.

  • Stroke

Rebuilding strength, walking and balance on the affected side. Programs are graded week by week and reviewed against how you are actually moving.

  • Multiple sclerosis

Exercise dosed around fatigue and heat sensitivity, so a session does not cost you the next two days. Load rises and falls with how you present.

  • Parkinson's disease

Work on stride, turning, posture and getting up out of a chair. Sessions use big, deliberate movement and cueing you can take home.

  • Dementia

A short, repeatable routine, the same time and the same station each visit. Carers are welcome to stay for the session and learn the routine.

  • Disability

Capacity-building exercise written against NDIS goals — mobility, transfers, endurance for daily tasks. Reported back in plain language.

Why families and GPs send people here

Three things you can check before you book.

  • Clinical background

Our practice principal came out of hospital rehabilitation — cardiac rehab at Sutherland and neuro rehab at Prince of Wales. Three ESSA-accredited exercise physiologists work across the clinic, the gym and home visits.

  • The facility

A 250+ sqm accessible gym on the same site as the clinic: level entry, wide circulation and rehabilitation equipment. Nothing about the space asks you to be fit before you arrive.

  • Everything in writing

An assessment, a written program you keep, and reports back to your GP, specialist or plan manager. Referrers get documentation without having to chase it.

  • NDIS

No referral needed. Self-managed, plan-managed or agency-managed — we are a registered provider to July 2029.

  • Medicare

GP referral required, under a chronic disease management plan. Ask your GP for a referral to an accredited exercise physiologist.

  • DVA & workers comp

GP referral required. Bring the referral and your claim or card details to the first appointment.

  • Self-referral

Welcome any time, no referral and no plan needed. Request a callback and we will book an assessment.

Not sure which one applies? Request a callback, tell us your situation, and we will work it out with you before anything is booked.

In their words
The team took the time to understand what had changed after Dad’s stroke, explained the program in plain language, and kept his GP in the loop after every review. The gym is easy for him to get into and he is never rushed.
